Troy Zabel, MD

 

Dr. Zabel joined South Denver Nephrology in 2006. With the merger of South Denver Nephrology and Denver Nephrology, he is now a partner in Colorado Kidney Care. He sees patients at the Porter and Greenwood Village offices and dialysis patients at the Englewood Davita Dialysis Unit.

Dr. Zabel attended the University of California, Santa Barbara for his undergraduate studies. He then attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco and is board certified in both nephrology and internal medicine. He also enjoys all aspects of nephrology including caring for patients with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, glomerulonephritis, hypertension, kidney stones and pre/post transplant care. He enjoys getting to know his patients and believes that education is the key to good health care. He believes that the role of the physician is to educate patients so that they are able to understand their health problems and actively participate in the decisions that affect their well being.

Dr. Zabel grew up in Southern California and has lived in many places including Copenhagen, Denmark, Atlanta, Hartford, Boston, San Francisco, New York City and Denver. He speaks some Spanish as well as Danish. He enjoys traveling, reading, crosswords and being physically active–especially tennis and skiing. He is the proud father of 3 kids.
